DFW plumbing · same-week playbook
5 chapters · ship one this week

Five plumbing lead-gen moves a DFW owner can ship in seven days.

Pick one chapter. Run it for 7 days. Then come back for the audit — the moves below are what the audit measures against, and the ones that move CPL fastest without burning another ad dollar.

01 · Referral Triggers

Ask at the moment of payment. Not the next morning.

Trigger 01 · At the close
After the close

"Glad we got it sorted. If you know one neighbor who's been putting off calling — text me their name and I'll take $50 off your next service."

Asking at the moment of payment, not the next morning, because satisfaction is highest and the referral feels like a favor, not a sales pitch.

  • Train every technician to ask before leaving the driveway.
  • Incentivize with a $50 credit on next call — paid out monthly.
  • Track referral source on every new lead (name + customer).
Trigger 02 · Job-completed text
90-second text, on-site

"It's [tech name] from [shop]. Job's done — text back 👍 if everything looks good, or call if anything's off."

A 90-second text sent while the technician is still on-site, because the response rate is 4× higher than a text sent an hour later.

  • Add a single text field to your job-completion checklist.
  • Responded ↔ = approved review request (chain into Section 3).
  • Non-response by next morning = dispatch triggers a follow-up.
Trigger 03 · Past-customer reactivation
Quarterly, anyone invoiced >90 days

"Hi [name] — it's been a while. Quick check: water heater, sump pump, and main shutoff valves still healthy? Free if you want a 10-minute walkthrough."

Quarterly outreach to any customer invoiced more than 90 days ago, because reactivating an existing customer costs 5× less than acquiring a new one.

  • Pull a list weekly from your invoicing tool; sort by last-paid date.
  • Send a one-line text + email; no pitch — just a free check-in.
  • Logged response = dispatch a quick diagnostic (ties into Section 5 anchor offer).
02 · Missed-Call Follow-Up Script

The first text fires in under sixty seconds. Every job starts there.

3-message SMS sequence
Msg 1 · within 60 seconds

"Hey [name] — [shop] here. Got your call, I'm on another line. Quick question: is this an emergency, or do you have a couple of hours for a window?"

Msg 2 · 4 hours later (no reply)

"Following up — what's the situation look like? I can usually slot someone in tomorrow morning. One-tap booking: [link]."

Msg 3 · 24 hours (voicemail drop)

"Last note from [shop] — book directly here: [link]. Slots this week are filling, but I'll hold a window for 30 minutes."

Four rules · every script
01.Name the missed call. Open with "[shop name] here" — never "we missed your call."
02.Ask one qualifying question. Emergency vs. window. Nothing else — triage, don't pitch.
03.Never apologize for missing. The call is yours to win back — don't set the frame on failure.
04.Always include a one-tap booking link. From Msg 1 forward. Stop requiring a phone call back.
Why speed wins
  • 21× lift. Lead-to-contact conversion drops 21× between a 5-minute and 30-minute first response (InsideSales benchmark).
  • 10-min default. Most shops miss-call-back inside 10 minutes or never. Closing that gap alone moves up to 1 extra closed job per week.
  • The link is the close. Even when the prospect doesn't reply, the booking URL sits in their notifications until they're ready.
03 · Review Velocity

Five new reviews a month moves the map ranking. Same week, you can turn the tap on.

5
New reviews / month target
<24h
Reply to every review
4.7★
Profile target by month 3
1
Same-day text, the link only. Send the Google review link the moment the job is paid. One line, no pitch.
2
Reply to every review within 24 hours. 3 sentences minimum — name, thank-you, single follow-up ask. Owners read the reply, prospects read the reply, Google reads the reply.
3
Flag 3-star and below for owner call first. Never reply publicly on a negative review until the owner has the customer on the phone and a resolution in writing.
4
Screenshot the cluster for the homepage. At 25 reviews, take a portrait screenshot, link 4–5 stars, paste into the homepage hero. Social proof in the place it converts.
Google Business Profile hand-off checklist
  • Owner claims primary ownership · secondary backup email set
  • Service-area polygon set to actual truck-roll radius (not whole DFW)
  • Hours, phone, address match the website footer exactly
  • Photo cadence: 2 new job-site photos per week, no stock
04 · Speed-to-Lead Math

Run the math once. It's the embarrassing kind of obvious.

5 min
First-response target

Every ring unanswered past 5 minutes falls to one-sixth the close rate.

21×
Contact-rate lift

Contact within 5 min vs. 30 min — InsideSales benchmark across verticals.

$650+
Saved per month

One extra closed job a month at $650 avg plumbing ticket.

−40h
Owner hours / month

Pulling phone triage off the owner — back to running jobs.

Worked example · at your numbers

If your shop runs 10 lead-driven jobs/month at $40 CPL and your close rate climbs by 10 pts because you respond in under 5 minutes:

10 leads × $40 = $400 ad spend · +1 closed job × $650 avg ticket = $650 monthly lift · net ratio: 1.6× on incremental closes alone.

The math compounds once you stop paying yourself overtime to answer the phone — the 40h/month figure above is the next chapter, not included in this lift.

05 · Basic Offer Economics

Three offers. Each one pulls a different temperature of lead.

Offer A · Anchor (lukewarm leads)
First-visit diagnostic — $89

Picks up the lukewarm leads who won't book a $400 emergency — and turns them into a $400 customer on visit two.

  • Avg ticket on visit one: $89 (no upcharge).
  • Conversion expectation: 35–45% of diagnostic calls book visit two within 14 days.
  • Upsell path: replace vs. repair decision → $1,200–$4,200 job 60% of the time.
Offer B · Bundle (recurring)
Annual membership — $399/yr

Water-heater flush + drain clear quarterly, plus priority scheduling. Locks revenue and pre-sells repeat work.

  • Avg ticket booked: $399 paid up-front (cash flow).
  • Conversion expectation: ~6% of invoiced customers buy within 90 days.
  • Upsell path: annual flush hits something that needs replacement → $850+ referral to self.
Offer C · Premium (high-ticket)
Same-day emergency — $149 dispatch

Same-day response, two-hour window, dispatch fee credited toward the repair. Pays for the calendar slot.

  • Avg ticket on visit: $480 (dispatch + 65% of repair average).
  • Conversion expectation: 70% of same-day dispatched calls accept repair.
  • Upsell path: every repair closed opens a Section 1 referral ask at payment.
What to kill: any service line that isn't producing 3+ qualified leads per week. If it's not on the calendar, it's not on the price sheet — the offer list stays at three, not twenty-three.
Next step · this week

Pick one section. Run it for 7 days. Then come back for the audit.

The audit scores your plumbing lead flow against this exact five-chapter list. One free pass — no sales call required. Bring your last 90 days of CPL and booked jobs and we'll show you the worst leak before we propose anything.
